Synopsis
Hi, I’m Brynn! I’m a trans artist and designer. Throughout my transition I have found comfort, knowledge, and validation in hearing about other trans folx experiences. Many of us absorb trans culture through social mediaI, and while powerful, the short-form engagement driven medium does not capture our full experiences. I am working on a project to gather trans stories and experiences to add to a publicly available archive. I am looking for trans folx who are comfortable being interviewed about their trans journey. I want to capture the good the bad, and everything in between that you would like to share.
Why
The trans community has a history that has been fractured by repeated periods of cultural erasure. These periods of cultural disconnection have severed the legacy of trans knowledge, identity, and support. As a result of this cycle of erasure, many trans people today navigate identity and survival without the guidance of elders. We exist in a state of cultural amnesia with no continuity in mentorship. The goals of this archive are:
Preserve our stories and our histories for future generations
To create a body of knowledge that can help trans folx navigate their transition
Work as a tool to build bridges with those who are not trans
